What Is the Islamic Studies Course?
Islam is not only the Quran, it is a complete way of life that encompasses beliefs, worship, character, history, and daily conduct. Our Islamic Studies course provides the structured Islamic knowledge that every Muslim child and adult needs to live their faith with confidence and understanding.
The course is taught by Almas Fatima, our certified female Quran teacher who holds a B.A. in Islamic Studies and a certification from Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia. She specializes in teaching sisters and children, bringing both scholarly knowledge and a warm, nurturing teaching style to every class.
The curriculum is divided by age and level. Children receive Islamic knowledge through storytelling, Quranic narratives, and interactive discussion. Adults receive a more in-depth treatment with primary source references and practical application to daily life in the USA.
What You Will Learn
Core Beliefs of Islam (Aqeedah)
The six pillars of Iman, belief in Allah, angels, Books, Prophets, the Day of Judgment, and Qadr. Understanding what a Muslim believes and why.
Five Pillars: Practical Application
Not just memorizing the five pillars but understanding how each is performed, its wisdom, and its importance in daily Muslim life.
Fiqh: Islamic Jurisprudence Basics
Practical Fiqh covering Taharah (purification), Salah, fasting, Zakat, and common daily-life rulings, how to live as a practicing Muslim in the West.
Seerah, Life of the Prophet ο·Ί
A chronological study of the Prophet Muhammad's ο·Ί life, from birth in Makkah, the first revelation, the Hijrah, to the conquest of Makkah and final years in Madinah.
Islamic Manners and Ethics
The character of a Muslim, honesty, kindness, respect for parents, treatment of neighbors, and the beautiful ethical framework that Islam provides for daily conduct.
Quran Stories (Qasas ul Anbiya)
Stories of the Prophets, Adam, Ibrahim, Musa, Isa, and others ο·Ί, as narrated in the Quran. Powerful lessons drawn from each story for modern life.
History of Islam
From the early Caliphate through the major Islamic civilizations, understanding the history of the Ummah and the scholars who preserved and spread Islamic knowledge.
Halal and Haram Basics
Practical guidance on food, business dealings, relationships, entertainment, and daily decisions, what Islam permits, what it prohibits, and the wisdom behind these guidelines.
Islamic Etiquette for Daily Life
The Sunnah etiquette for eating, sleeping, greeting, entering the home, using the bathroom, and other daily activities, small practices that carry immense barakah.

Class Structure & Methodology
Structured Curriculum with Textbooks
We follow structured Islamic Studies textbooks aligned with traditional Islamic education. Students progress through levels as they master each topic, no random, disconnected lessons.
Story-Based Learning for Children
Children learn most effectively through stories. Almas Fatima uses Quranic stories, Prophetic narrations, and real-life examples to bring Islamic knowledge to life in a way that children remember and love.
Discussion-Based for Adults
Adult classes involve deeper discussion, Q&A, and practical application to modern life. Questions are encouraged. This is a space for genuine Islamic learning without judgment.
Class Duration
Islamic Studies classes run 30β45 minutes for children and 45β60 minutes for adults. Most families schedule 1β2 Islamic Studies classes per week alongside their Quran sessions.
Primary Source References
Every ruling and belief taught is referenced back to the Quran and authentic Hadith. Students learn not just what Islam says, but where it says it, building confidence in their knowledge.
Progress Reports
Regular updates on which topics have been covered, how well the student understands each concept, and what needs reinforcement at home between classes.
